411 on Mezcal – Izo Agave Spirits

Enjoyed for centuries throughout Mexico, it wasn’t until 1994 that the Mexican government officially applied the name “Mezcal” to the agave spirits made in nine specific Mexican states, including Martinez’s home city of Durango. Today, any agave spirit originating outside of these designated states cannot be called Mezcal. IZO Agave Spirits brings a distinctive approach to producing a pure, all-natural Mezcal Joven perfect for all occasions!

“Mezcal stands out as a distinctly versatile spirit,” explains Martinez. “IZO’s clean, smooth agave flavor blends seamlessly into mixed cocktails and goes does smooth in a shot glass, but its complex flavor is best savored by the sip. This is not true of all Mezcal, because the taste, texture, and profile of each are very different depending on the agave used and the exact process by which it is made.”

Try IZO Mezcal Joven in a delightfully tart Margarizo using:

2 oz IZO Mezcal Joven
1 lime
½ oz Triple Sec

Simply cut the lime in half, reserving a slice for garnish. Salt the rim of a small glass filled with ice. Place additional ice into a shaker, then fill it with the fresh-squeezed lime juice, Mezcal, and Triple Sec. Shake and strain the liquid into the glass. Add the lime slice garnish and enjoy!

(Cambridge, MA) Ohza Mimosas, the ready-to-drink, reinvented mimosa in a can founded by a 25-year-old Massachusetts entrepreneur, has officially launched online ordering and shipping to 29 US states.

Ohza was previously only available at 750+ independent and local retailers including Whole Foods, Shaw’s, Star Market, Roche Brothers, BJ’s, Kappy’s, and BevMax in MA, ME, RI, and CT. Now, those located in the 29 available states can have 6-packs of Ohza’s mimosas shipped right to their doorstep for $14.59 + shipping, or $13.99 for 4 or more. Shipping costs vary and are calculated at checkout.

Redefining the ready-to-drink beverage, Ohza’s gluten free mimosas have the calorie count of a hard seltzer, but the bold punch of a serious cocktail – all while containing no added sugar, real juice, no artificial flavors, 5% alcohol for all day sip-ability, and a clean nutrition label. Crafted with premium Brut sparkling wine from the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York and real orange juice, one 6-pack of Ohzas is equal to 9 mimosa flutes, or 2 bottles of bubbly and 1/2 a juice carton.

Ohza was founded by 25-year-old Ryan Ayotte after attempting to mix mimosas with his friends on a tippy boat off of Cape Cod, MA. The result? A mess. From making a mess on the high seas, to lugging bottles, cartons, and cups to the beach – he knew there had to be an easier way. Based in Cambridge, MA, Ohza is set out to bring a taste of brunch wherever you wander using quality ingredients, sustainable cans, and always supplying a good time.

“One does not just watch a dance by Zvi Gotheiner. One enters a world with its own internal logic, a sensual, organic world of movement, language, and images where one is pulled along by currents unseen and inevitable.” – Dance Magazine

ZviDance, led by Artistic Director Zvi Gotheiner is praised for its signature innovative style and fascinating melding of artistic mediums. Radical, contemporary dance theater, their work is ground-breaking, thoughtful yet passionate, with lush movement. The company exists to share with audiences the choreographic vision and movement vocabulary of the Israeli-born Artistic Director. Each piece defines a unique set of relationships and experiences, boldly addressing the depths of the human experience. ZviDance also exists to engage students in enriching their appreciation of the art form.

ZviDance brings its audiences a passionate vision of community in a modern age. A collaborative alliance among artists, the company’s stirring work celebrates diversity by melding movement genres into the distinct dance vocabulary constantly evolving and refusing to succumb to dialectics of the medium. The company is shaped by a collaborative model of creation, involving the ensemble and designers from the initial research phase, so as to constantly push the methodology and ethics of a creation process within an inter-disciplinary format.

In the last 30 years of existence, ZviDance has received critical praise and stable funding for its artistic projects, a work that fearlessly refuses to be bounded to specific thematic or aesthetic dogma. The company performs frequently at home in such New York venues as the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), Joyce Theater, New York Live Arts and Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors. ZviDance has toured across North America to festivals such as Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival and The American Dance Festival, and abroad to Germany, Poland, Russia, Israel, Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador and Japan.
