Burning Man 2018

Sunday, August 26 to Monday, September 3
Black Rock City

Once a year, tens of thousands of people gather in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert to create Black Rock City, a temporary metropolis dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance. In this crucible of creativity, all are welcome.

Burning Man Project’s mission is to produce the annual event known as Burning Man and to guide, nurture and protect the more permanent community created by its culture. Our intention is to generate society that connects each individual to his or her creative powers, to participation in community, to the larger realm of civic life, and to the even greater world of nature that exists beyond society.

We believe that the experience of Burning Man can produce positive spiritual change in the world. To this end, it is equally important that we communicate with one another, with the citizens of Black Rock City and with the community of Burning Man wherever it may arise. Burning Man is radically inclusive, and its meaning is potentially accessible to anyone.

The touchstone of value in our culture will always be immediacy: experience before theory, moral relationships before politics, survival before services, roles before jobs, embodied support before sponsorship. Finally, in order to accomplish these ends, Burning Man must endure as a self-supporting enterprise that is capable of sustaining the lives of those who dedicate themselves to its work. From this devotion spring those duties that we owe to one another.

We will always burn the Man.

The Perfect Pour

Enjoy a perfect day at the ball park with the perfect pour!
Cheering your favorite baseball team and simply enjoying a break from work are common activities throughout the year. For some people, these occasions also may include drinking—even drinking to excess.

For different types of beer, wine, or malt liquor, the alcohol content can vary greatly. Some differences are smaller than you might expect, however. Many light beers, for example, have almost as much alcohol as regular beer—about 85% as much, or 4.2% versus 5.0% alcohol by volume (alc/vol), on average.

The Mercer Grand Opening

Thursday, April 5 at 5:30 PM
The Mercer, 9830 West Tropicana Avenue, Las Vegas

Please join us for the Grand Opening of The Mercer. The Mercer is the latest project of StoryBook Homes. It features 175 luxury one and two-bedroom apartment homes, townhomes and penthouses near Tropicana and Grand Canyon. We’re not exaggerating when we say The Mercer is unlike most other new developments you’ve likely seen in Las Vegas. It brings together a homebuilder’s dedication to high-end finishes and ambiance, and combines them with the convenience and resort-style amenities residents want — but don’t often find — all in one place.

StoryBook Homes is proudly donating the admission proceeds from this event to Cure 4 the Kids Foundation’s Long-Term Follow-Up Clinic for pediatric cancer survivors.

Guests will have the opportunity to meander throughout the development, peek at several of the luxury units, see the in-house theater, in-house kitchen, yoga room, massage room, gym, expansive pool and courtyard area offering four individual “vibes.” And don’t forget to take in the view at the top — a rooftop deck with gas fire pits and Las Vegas Strip and mountain views. We’ll have music, award-winning barbecue, beer, wine, and desserts. Adventure, fun, and amazement will be around every corner!

If you cant attend the event, please consider donating to this worthy cause. Head over to ticketing

Wayne and Catherine Laska, have been long-time supporters of Cure 4 The Kids Foundation. Catherine is one of the founding board members of Cure 4 The Kids Foundation. She and Wayne have contributed much of their time, money and efforts to help build Cure 4 The Kids Foundation into what is today.

As the principals of StoryBook Homes, and long-time Las Vegans, they made a significant donation in support of our clinic for childhood cancer survivors. The $500,000 donation announced last year, will ensure that the unique services we provide to cancer survivors will always be accessible to those with good insurance, bad insurance or no insurance.

We think it’s important you know the Laskas came to this decision of support as a result of their own journey trying to get treatment for one of their family members who is a survivor of childhood cancer. In many ways, the difficulties they experienced and what they found to be a lack of services available is what led Cure 4 The Kids Foundation to create the Long-Term Follow-Up Clinic for Childhood Cancer Survivors. In honor of the Laska’s significant financial support, the clinic is now officially named the StoryBook Homes Long-Term Follow-Up Clinic.

We’ll have several clinic volunteers on hand to let you know more about the special services provided by the StoryBook Homes Long-Term Follow-Up Clinic and why these services are so important to patients long after their cancer treatments have ended.

Dog House’s Tail Waggin’ Good Wines for a Tail Waggin’ Good Cause

White Rocket Wine Company is re-launching its Dog House line of California super-premium wines with a friendly new label and dogged support for Guide Dogs for the Blind, a charitable organization that provides free guide dogs and training to the blind and visually impaired. Since pledging support for Guide Dogs for the Blind in 2005, Dog House has donated a total of over $214,000 to directly fund their efforts.

“Our pet cause at Dog House is raising money for Guide Dogs for the Blind, whose programs greatly enhance the mobility and quality of life of the blind and visually impaired,” says Ryan Kukol, Associate Brand Manager. “Because Guide Dogs for the Blind receives no government funding, it depends entirely upon private donations. Through sales of Dog House wines, we directly aid this worthy group’s efforts to improve the lives of thousands of people afflicted by blindness.”

Bred from pedigreed vineyards in California’s acclaimed North Coast and Central Coast wine-growing regions, Dog House Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Zinfandel are crafted with a combination of traditional artisan winemaking techniques and state-of-the-art technology. Softly textured and easy-drinking, they’re delicious on their own and wonderful companions to food. Since 2005, Dog House wines have won over 65 medals for quality – certainly a record to woof about.

With its new, playful label illustration of a dog with a dog shock collar sitting outside a doghouse, and a suggested retail price of $9.99, Dog House rests squarely within the Adventure Brand category, which continues to wag the tail of the premium wine market, soaring from 661,000 cases and $68 million in sales in 2002 to nearly 6.8 million cases and $568 million in 2007. Delivering higher profit margins than traditional premium table wines, adventure brands like Dog House appeal especially to Millennial Generation consumers, who are lapping up whimsically themed brands that reflect and reinforce their values.

“The quality and affordability of our wines, coupled with our support of Guide Dogs for the Blind, gives Millennial consumers three doggone good reasons to make Dog House their pet brand,” says Mark Feinberg, Vice President of Marketing.

White Rocket is supporting the new-package launch of Dog House with any array of point-of-sale materials, including a display rack, case card, bottle neckers and shelf talkers for stores, and waitstaff education and feature cards, logoed corkscrews and 3-liter Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon bottles for restaurants. The new Dog House package begins shipping in June, 2008.
