Holiday appetizers made easy with Bacon Jam

The days are getting shorter and pre-holiday schedules are quickly becoming jam-packed. From family commitments to social gatherings, it can be challenging to squeeze in time to curate the perfect party dish. TBJ Gourmet’s Bacon Jam easily creates a unique and delicious element to any meal – see below for our holiday appetizer recipes.

With a bit of Bacon Jam magic, simple appetizers are transformed into delicious bites within minutes. Bacon Jam Brussel Sprouts

Trim and half 1 lb of brussel sprouts
Season with salt and pepper generously
Roast in olive oil or bacon lard in the oven at 450° for 20 minutes in a cast-iron skillet or on a sheet pan, tossing about halfway through
Pull from the oven, add 2-3 tbsp of Black Pepper Bacon Jam
Toss to coat and put under the broiler for 1-2 minutes until Bacon Jam begins to caramelize
Serve topped with crumbled Gorgonzola cheese

Bacon Jam Sweet Potatoes

Wash and halve 3 large sweet potatoes
Roast flesh side down in coconut oil on a sheet pan in the oven at 375° for 20 minutes
Pull from the oven, allow to cool slightly, and scoop the flesh out into a bowl, leaving skins intact
Mash the flesh with a fork, season with salt and pepper, and stir in Maple Bourbon Bacon Jam
Fill the skins with the mixture, top with mini marshmallows and put back into the oven for 5 minutes or until marshmallows begin to melt

Since our founding in 1989, The Shade Tree has provided a safe haven to more than 100,000 women and children in crisis from homelessness, human-trafficking, domestic violence and abuse. Our primary service is our 90-day Emergency Shelter program which provides food, shelter, counseling, medical care, job training and compassion to families in need to help them stabilize and regain independence.

The 8th Annual Biddin’ for Bottles wine extravaganza will be held at DragonRidge Country Club, the Host Sponsor. The auctioneer, Chet Buchanan, is guaranteed to help you spend your money for charity!

Animals in Wonderland: Chapter 8 at Casa de Shenandoah

Join the Nevada SPCA for an amazing evening of delicate wines, tantalizing appetizers, delicious desserts & exquisite teas at this beloved annual event. 2018’s Chapter 8 will be inspired by the transformations from Abandoned to Adored of rescued animals at the Nevada SPCA’s No-Kill Animal Shelter.

Animals in Wonderland, Chapter 8: Twilight Wines and Desserts at Casa de Shenandoah, is set to be the affair of the year with a labyrinth of characters from a certain mad hatter’s tea party within the enchantment of the grand landscape of Wayne Newton’s Casa de Shenandoah. Guests will mix with some of Vegas’ finest and meet inspiring (and adoptable) rescued animals.

In addition, attendees can enjoy a gourmet candy bar while bidding on a variety of exclusive silent auction items and compete for one-of-a-kind auction experiences while having afterhours access to the grounds of Las Vegas’ icon Wayne Newton.

Celebrate Spring NY

Celebrate Spring was first conceived in 2008 by G. Pennington Egbert III, his sister Missy Egbert Sheehan and their close friend Georgina B. Schaeffer.  The three, whose fathers both lived with Parkinson’s disease, joined together to create the Young New Yorkers for the Fight Against Parkinson’s committee, a group of nearly 100 New Yorkers dedicated to advancing a cure for Parkinson’s.  Each year the committee hosts Celebrate Spring in New York City, which has raised more than $750,000 since its inception.

Over 400 attendees will have the chance to visit our young entrepreneurs’ and teachers’ exhibit tables and learn all about their businesses and their local NFTE program while sampling delicious hors d’oeuvres and cocktails.
