Dixon Place (Ellie Covan, Founding & Artistic Director), called “a last bastion of downtown New York’s long tradition of theatrical experimentation” by the New York Times, is pleased to host their 30th Anniversary annual Gala Dinner on Monday, September 26 at 6pm at the venue (161A Chrystie Street). The evening will feature a formal dinner, a silent and live auction, and performances by a stellar cast of artists long associated with Dixon Place. All proceeds will be used to support Dixon Place’s mission to champion daring new work with another season of important works-in-progress by emerging artists, fully-produced commissions, and artists-in-residence.
New York State Assembly Member Deborah Glick, the first openly lesbian member of the state legislature, will be honored for her inspiring career of political activism and public service. Hosted by Ashley D. Brockington, the hysterical, provocative writer and performer, there will be special appearances by beloved playwright and actor Wallace Shawn, Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter Loudon Wainwright III, nationally acclaimed comedic performer Marga Gomez, Helen Hayes award-winning actress and writer Angelica Page, and pioneering transgender choreographer Arrie Davidson and her ground-breaking KineticArchitecture Dance Theatre.
