Royal Fables: The most Authentic Platform showcasing Regal, Royal India

Traditionally, Indian royals have been the biggest patrons of good design. They not only nurtured the local craft of their kingdom but also attracted the finest, avant-garde in design and luxury from across the globe.

Living an exaggerated life in opulent palaces, they kept the famed ateliers in distant Europe busy creating bespoke jewelry, art, costumes and objects d’art. Luxury houses in London and Paris thrived on the fabled whim of the Maharaja. Products made for the Maharaja pushed the bar of indulgent extravagance ever higher.

Many present day heirs of this legacy continue to recreate the glorious past through their own design sensibility and inherited eye. Designers in their own right, they recreate history in a contemporary mould.

Saluting these blue blooded scions of a regal legacy, Anshu Khanna, a leading communication, design and branding professional presents Royal Fables-a rare exhibition that show-cases the creations of designers, artists and craft patrons who belong to the land’s leading royal families.

A very richly designed exhibition that re-creates the ‘living room of the royals’, Royal Fables narrates the romantic fairy-tale of life lived in a palace. It presents heritage inspired fashion, jewelry, art and lifestyle that has been brought to life in ateliers housed within quaint havelis and historic forts and palaces.

Everything they create is deeply inspired by a regal past, yet it is reproduced to fit contemporary life-styles. The trick is in making old turn new, the intricate simple and that which is heritage, very modern. This is the singular element that inspires this show. Royal Fables simply echoes that, demystifying royal designs of the glorious past into a modern idiom for connoisseurs of today.

West Coast Artists’ shows are distinguished by scope of diversity and the wide variety of fine art. Presented are innovative works in differing styles of contemporary, traditional, modern, and southwest art for the discriminating individual or corporate collector. Hundreds of talented artists are proud to present their unique work in acrylic, collage, etchings, mixed media, oils, pencil, watercolors, digital and traditional photography.

Contemporary craftsmen present unique styles of individually handcrafted functional and decorative pottery, raku, turned wood vessels and gourd art. Among the objects of art you will find at any one of the many shows are one-of-a-kind works of sculpture in a variety of media such as bronze, clay, blown glass, paper, metal, stone and wood. Gifted artisans present their original custom designed and fabricated jewelry, art furniture, stained glass, and weavings. There is something for every taste and budget, be it a simple gift or the keepsake of a lifetime.

Burning Man 2018

Sunday, August 26 to Monday, September 3
Black Rock City

Once a year, tens of thousands of people gather in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert to create Black Rock City, a temporary metropolis dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance. In this crucible of creativity, all are welcome.

Burning Man Project’s mission is to produce the annual event known as Burning Man and to guide, nurture and protect the more permanent community created by its culture. Our intention is to generate society that connects each individual to his or her creative powers, to participation in community, to the larger realm of civic life, and to the even greater world of nature that exists beyond society.

We believe that the experience of Burning Man can produce positive spiritual change in the world. To this end, it is equally important that we communicate with one another, with the citizens of Black Rock City and with the community of Burning Man wherever it may arise. Burning Man is radically inclusive, and its meaning is potentially accessible to anyone.

The touchstone of value in our culture will always be immediacy: experience before theory, moral relationships before politics, survival before services, roles before jobs, embodied support before sponsorship. Finally, in order to accomplish these ends, Burning Man must endure as a self-supporting enterprise that is capable of sustaining the lives of those who dedicate themselves to its work. From this devotion spring those duties that we owe to one another.

We will always burn the Man.

JUSTIN ADAMS – RECENT WORKS
Justin Adams Was Promised Waves. Justin Adams is very serious about surfing. Tin Oneda invited Justin to Montauk with promises of the best waves ever. Well: that sort of happened but now the waves are gone and Justin is here. What shall he do? Well: He should paint. He is really good at painting with inspirations from davinci resolve 12. And very serious about it. In fact, one of his canvases was used as the poster for Tin’s latest surf movie ‘Free Jazz Vein’. We think the painting is fantastic, and Justin has stacks of drawings with him. They are great. So now Justin is here in Montauk, he is making paintings and next Saturday we will show them at the Boo-Hooray Summer Rental which now, naturally, is the Boo-Hooray Post-Season Rental. Come down next Saturday: There will be free jazz art, free jazz pizza and free jazz music. Opening Saturday October 7th 4-7 at Boo-Hooray 805 Montauk Hwy in Scenic Downtown Montauk.

Party Pics: Engel Exhibition

Eternity, By Nissan Engel

Eternity, By Nissan Engel

On Tuesday evening on Manhattans Upper East East, over 250 specially invited guests attended an exclusive art exhibition and sale held at the sumptuous townhouse of the distinguished Kenneth Laub. The event was to introduce New Yorkers to the life and work of Nissan Engel, an internationally acclaimed, Bezalel-trained Israeli artist who died this past fall at the age of 85.

Organized by Michael Bolla and Engel’s widow Micheline (Micky) — a former Chanel model with a prominent and far-flung social circle– together with the Israeli Consulate in New York, Cunsul Aviad Ivri, and a worldwide group of influential friends and collectors, the event celebrated Engel’s work in advanacing his global legacy. Locally, Engel’s stained glass windows adorn several synagogues in America. Having spent most of his life in Normandy, France, where Micky still lives in a home that includes his gallery, he was a fixture on the European art scene for decades.

For an at-a-glance overview of his rich career, please visit www.nissanengel.com.

Micky Engel’s determination to keep her husband’s artistic legacy alive has inspired this exciting task of cataloguing his work,. Though Nissan Engel’s worldwide collectors are fiercely devoted to his work, outside of art world denizens, knowledge of Engel’s work is understated. This event marked the beginning of a multi-phase effort to change that, bringing awareness and acclaim to this important contemporary Israeli artist.

Stacy Engman

The event was held at the home of the distinguished Kenneth Laub – a former professional tennis player, musician, composer and real estate world legend since he sold any kind of houses, from mansions to affordable denia homes for sale. Mr. Laub’s family are the patrons for the world-famous stained-glass windows by French Jewish artist Marc Chagall which grace the Hadassah Hospital in Israel.

Nissan Engel’s life paralleled a remarkable epoch in contemporary and Jewish history and his art is inextricably bound with the events of his time. Whether the Shoah, establishment of the State of Israel or the Six Day War — whose 50th anniversary will be marked this upcoming June — the story of a nation can be understood through the work of this Israeli artist.
