Champions crowned at first WASTED event
Chef Works and Kitchens for Good team up for charity, sustainability
SAN DIEGO — Chef Works and Kitchens for Good are thrilled to announce the winners of the first-ever
WASTED: A Celebration of Sustainable Food.
On Oct.14, with the Pacific Ocean as the backdrop, dozens of chefs and mixologists put their creativity
and innovation to the test by competing in three categories using food that would typically be
discarded.
The Nude Dude Food team of Ryan Van Voorhis and Seth Bradley from Chicago – sporting their
signature aprons-only look — won the Savory Event. Thiago Silva of Boston won the Pastry Competition.
And San Diego’s Christian Siglin was named top mixologist. The winners were determined by attendees
voting on their favorite dishes in each category.
“The creativity of all of the chefs and mixologists was so inspiring,” said multi-award winning celebrity
chef Elizabeth Falkner, who served as the emcee for WASTED. “The movement of eliminating food waste
and focusing on sustainability is gaining tremendous momentum and events like this will help bring it to
the forefront.”
All money from the event, including tickets and auction items, supported Kitchens for Good – a non-
profit organization in San Diego that tackles issues of food waste, poverty and hunger. Each chef was
paired with one of KFG’s culinary students – many of whom have had to overcome adversity such as
homelessness, imprisonment or aging out of the foster care system.
“The talent at this event was amazing and we’re honored to have won,” said Bradley and Van Voorhis.
“Food sustainability is an issue we take very seriously and I think with just a little bit of education,
people at home can start making a difference in their own kitchens. We’re thrilled to have helped raise
money for an amazing cause while educating people about sustainability.” The event generated approximately $48,000 for Kitchens for Good.
“We had an idea of what we wanted this event to be and it turned out to be so much more,” said Chuck
Samuelson, founder and board member of Kitchens for Good. “We’re humbled by the outpouring of
support from the community, the chefs and the companies that answered the call to bring awareness to
some important issues in the food industry.”
Chef Works, the global leader in culinary and hospitality apparel, provided personalized chef coats and
aprons for each participant in addition to a $25,000 grant through its charitable arm, Chef Works Cares.
“When we first heard about Kitchens for Good and what they stand for, we knew we needed to be
involved,” said Cynthia McCormick of Chef Works, who oversees the Chef Works Cares program. “Food
sustainability and eliminating waste is not just a corporate responsibility, it’s a corporate obligation. We
take it very seriously and we’re honored to put our name alongside Kitchens for Good.”

culinary industry. This approach addresses the most immediate need of hunger by feeding the food
lines, but also helps to shorten the line itself by offering pathways out of poverty for individuals

Party Pics: World’s First Gordon Ramsay HELL’S KITCHEN Restaurant Marks Official Grand Opening at Caesars Palace Las Vegas

Multi-Michelin star chef and television personality Gordon Ramsay, joined by the finalists of Season 17 HELL’S KITCHEN All-Stars and famous faces from the sports and entertainment world, celebrated the official grand opening of the first-ever Gordon Ramsay HELL’S KITCHEN restaurant at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Since its soft opening in early January, the highly-anticipated restaurant has already received reservations for nearly 25,000 guests. Reservations are available for lunch and dinner.

Designed to be an experiential and immersive destination restaurant, guests at Gordon Ramsay HELL’S KITCHEN will feel transported to the studio set of the globally popular FOX television show. The inspiration from the hit show is evident from the signature fiery pitchfork – direct from the set of the popular TV show – that marks the entryway, to the life-size video screen of Chef Ramsay that greets guests upon arrival, to the chef uniforms and menu items. The winner of current Season 17 of HELL’S KITCHEN All-Stars will be named Head Chef and have portrait hung with the other previous champions on the winner’s wall.

“We responded to fans of the show who were hungry for a real-world HELL’S KITCHEN restaurant for some time – pun intended,” said Ramsay. “What we didn’t fully realize was just how enthusiastic the response would be. We are thrilled with the reservations and interest since announcing our opening, and excited to welcome guests to experience the best of HELL’S KITCHEN – great food, and great cocktails.”

Masterfully designed by Jeffrey Beers International, the first-of-its-kind restaurant boasts design features that are engaging to all senses and are a nod to both the red and blue teams featured on the show. The dynamic and bustling kitchen is the centerpiece of this unique eatery, with mosaic tiles framing the open space artfully, allowing guests to appreciate from every seat in the house. Chefs and cooks in the kitchen will be in the exact uniforms from the show – red and blue jackets with coordinating bandanas. To further bring the electric atmosphere of the studio into the dining room, additional key elements of the show are infused in the design, such as fire and heat and custom designed lighting that combine brass rods with pitchfork features and runs across the high ceilings. HELL’S KITCHEN’s iconic “H” and pitchfork symbols are cleverly featured throughout the custom-designed, laser-cut screen partitions and soft charcoal and ash-hued wallcovering.

With floor-to-ceiling glass windows facing the famous Las Vegas Strip and Caesars Palace’s iconic fountains, Gordon Ramsay HELL’S KITCHEN seats nearly 300 guests and features indoor and Strip-adjacent dining. Currently offering lunch and dinner daily, the eatery also boasts a spirited bar menu.

“Creating unique and world class-dining experiences is one-way Caesars Entertainment is strengthening the integrated resort concept,” said Mark Frissora President and CEO of Caesars Entertainment. “A key element of this is building strong partnerships and Gordon is not only a great partner but also one of the biggest talents in culinary.”

Several of the most successful signature menu items and recipes featured on the television show can now be experienced during lunch and dinner including Pan Seared Scallops, Lobster Risotto, Beef Wellington, Truffle Arancini, Brick Pressed Chicken and Crispy Skin Salmon. Special menu items direct from the show will be added as new episodes air.

To perfectly complement the cuisine or to simply enjoy at the restaurant’s sprawling bar, the cocktails at HELL’S KITCHEN are not to be missed. The signature creations include the gin-based Notes from Gordon, garnished with a scroll printed with a surprise note from Gordon Ramsay; the citrus and rosemary laden Chef’s Stew, served bubbling and steaming from dry ice; and the rye-based Smoke on the Blvd, which arrives in a cherry-wood smoke-filled glass cabinet. The restaurant also boasts an expertly curated wine list with over 20 wines offered by the glass. The beer list is also notable with more than 30 options, and includes an exclusive HELL’S KITCHEN Special Brew IPA from Stone Brewing.

“With Gordon and his team, we created a unique dining experience based on one of the most popular shows on television. I’m very proud of what we have achieved. The room has been transformed and feels just like the set of Hell’s Kitchen, and the food and service is worthy of the Gordon Ramsay,” said Gary Selesner Regional President Caesars Palace. “The response from guests so far has been very gratifying. They are delighted with the menu and love the concept. It looks like we have another big hit on our hands. I can’t wait for everyone to try it.”

Gordon Ramsay HELL’S KITCHEN marks Ramsay’s fifth Las Vegas restaurant and extends his successful partnership with Caesars Entertainment to seven eateries with more to come. The new restaurant is a partnership between Gordon Ramsay and Caesars Entertainment in conjunction with ITV America. HELL’S KITCHEN airs in the U.S. on FOX and is produced by ITV Entertainment in association with A. Smith & Co. Productions. Arthur Smith, Kent Weed, Kenny Rosen, David Eilenberg and Gordon Ramsay serve as executive producers. HELL’S KITCHEN airs in 41 countries around the globe.

FRIENDS OF THE IDF LAS VEGAS GALA RAISES $1M TO BENEFIT ISRAELI SOLDIERS

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 7 – More than 450 members of the Las Vegas community and out-of-town guests and supporters gathered at The Venetian last week for the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) Las Vegas Gala and raised more than $1 million – with help from a matching gift by Sheldon and Dr. Miriam Adelson – to support well-being and educational programs for the brave soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

Las Vegas Sheriff Joseph Lombardo attended the Nov. 1 gala, which has become one of the Las Vegas Jewish community’s largest events and honored leading defense attorney David Z. Chesnoff.

Also speaking at the gala were active-duty and former Israeli soldiers, including Staff Sgt. Reno, a Lone Soldier – one who enlists in the IDF without having any immediate family in Israel – who lived in Las Vegas and who finished his high school education during his military service, thanks to FIDF; Yaakov Daniel, who plays a counterterrorism operative in the hit Israeli Netflix series “Fauda” and whose college education was sponsored through FIDF’s IMPACT! Scholarship Program; and Staff Sgt. (Res.) Sharon, a sharpshooter in one of the world’s only coed combat infantry battalions who engaged and neutralized terrorists attempting to infiltrate Israel.

Chairing the gala were FIDF National Board Members Dana and Michael Werner. Human rights attorney, author, and award-winning filmmaker Brooke Goldstein presided as the evening’s master of ceremonies. The gala also featured a musical performance by Kol Esperanza.

Goldstein, whose documentary “The Making of a Martyr” examined the recruitment of children suicide bombers, spoke of FIDF’s critical role in helping provide humanitarian programs to those who serve in the IDF.

“By providing crucial support systems for Israeli soldiers, FIDF ensures they are treated like the real heroes that they are,” she said. “Because these young men and women are fighting for the survival not just of Israel, but for the Jewish people. For us, for everyone right here in this room and for our future!”

Other distinguished guests included boxer and celebrity Mike Tyson; Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson; Nevada Supreme Court Justice Lidia S. Stiglich; Judges Mark Bailus, Joe Bonaventure, Elissa Cadish, Douglas Herndon, Abbi Silver, and Michael Villani; FIDF National Director and CEO Maj. Gen. (Res.) Meir Klifi-Amir; Rabbi Mendel Mintz, founder and director of Chabad Jewish Community Center in Aspen; Todd Polikoff, president and CEO of Jewish Federation of Las Vegas; Joshua Abbey, director of the Las Vegas Jewish Film Festival; Dr. William Bolt, vice president for advancement at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas; Nevada Assemblyman Stephen H. Silberkraus; Nevada State Treasurer Dan Schwartz; and Brian Watson, Republican candidate for Colorado state treasurer.

The funds raised at this event will go toward FIDF well-being and educational programs for IDF soldiers. For more information or to support FIDF, please visit: www.fidf.org.
