Buca Di Beppo's New Limoncello Martini!

Pucker up for the zesty, new Limoncello Martini served only at the Italian restaurant Buca di Beppo.  Made with the authentic, original brand of Danny DeVito’s Premium Limoncello this refreshing summer martini is a tangy blend that is new to Buca di Beppo.

Originating in Southern Italy, limoncello is very strong, very sweet, yet very satisfying liquor; traditionally served ice cold as a classic Italian after-dinner drink.  Limoncello only uses the zest of the lemon, leaving behind the white inner back of the rind and pith which makes its flavor sweet and not bitter. Made with simple ingredients such as: lemons, vodka, sugar, and water, limoncello is a unique ingredient that diversified Buca di Beppo’s already expansive selection of specialty cocktails.

Buca di Beppo used the classic Italian dessert liquor and turned it into a tangy, smooth martini with a lemony punch. Martini ingredients include:

·         1 ½ oz. Danny DeVito’s  Premium Limoncello

·         ½ oz. ABSOLUT vodka

·         2 oz. Homemade sour

·         Splash of lemon-lime soda

All shaken, strained, with a mint leave garnish, this mouth watering martini will make someone feel as though they escaped to an Italian seaside village on a hot summer day.

For more information and to find your local restaurant, you can visit www.bucadibeppo.com.

Dishes enjoyed for generations in villages throughout Italy inspire the menu, which features Northern and Southern Italian favorites. While the food has pleased millions of palates coast-to-coast, Buca di Beppo is equally famous for its quirky décor and upbeat atmosphere. Most Buca di Beppo locations are open for lunch and dinner daily. Catering is also available at numerous locations nationwide. Opera Ball Set for March 18

Spring Gala and Opera Ball. Event Description: New York City Opera will celebrate the opening of its 2010 Spring Season with a gala performance of Chabrier’s L’Étoile. The performance will be followed by a grand evening of dinner and waltzing to music performed by the New York City Opera Orchestra on the Promenade of the David H. Koch Theater. This glamorous evening will be formal attire, opera gloves and white-tie optional.  Emmanuel Chabrier’s ingenious L’Étoile is a lively opéra bouffe about disguises and mistaken identities. Acclaimed City Opera Director Mark Lamos creates a witty, stylish production inspired by Toulouse Lautrec to tell the story of a madcap king, an astrologer, and a hapless peddler. The cast will feature the great French tenor Jean-Paul Fouchécourt and the debuts of bourgeoning artists Julie Boulianne, Liza Forrester, and Dominic Armstrong. The revival is also notable for the return of the internationally renowned French conductor Emmanuel Plasson.  The Spring Gala will honor City Opera’s devoted Chairman Susan L. Baker for her outstanding dedication to the company in this role, for her strong leadership through challenging times, and for her great friendship to the Opera as both ardent advocate and generous supporter. Ms. Baker joined the City Opera Board in December 1999 and has served as Chairman of the Board since 2004. She also serves as Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Collegiate Chorale and is a member of the Board of the Animal Medical Center, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the American Associates of the Royal Academy, and the International Friends of the Aix-en-Provence Festival. She also serves as a member of the Board of the Brooklyn Academy of Music Endowment Trust and a member of the OPERA America Investment Advisory Committee.  All proceeds from the Spring Gala support City Opera’s mission to create innovative productions of new and classic work, reach a wide audience with affordable ticket prices, and bring music into the lives of thousands of students each year through its acclaimed education programs in New York City public schools.  Beneficiary: New York City Opera Programming and Educational Activities Honoree: Susan L. Restaurant of the Week: Strand Hotel American Bistro

As you enter the lounge you cannot miss the swing, which you might whimsically take a ride on before checking in with the hostess for your table. There is a hideaway lounge-seating area to the left with a prominent wine display above, a long tall table for cocktails, and, as you continue back, an alabaster bar followed by two more lounge areas with a stand-alone fireplace in between them, framed by bookshelves. For intimate fireside talks, there is a built-in bench attached to the fireplace. To the left is an exotic saltwater fish tank which separates the lounge are from the dining area. As you walk through ten-foot tall French doors you enter the 54 seat dining room covered by a retractable roof, which will open to the sky during the warmer months.
