The School of American Ballet’s Workshop Performance Benefit 2015 on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 raised more than $890,000 for scholarships and school programs. The evening began with cocktails at 5:30pm in Juilliard’s Morse Hall, followed by the performance at 7pm in the Peter Jay Sharp Theater at Lincoln Center, and concluded with a seated dinner at 9pm at the Mandarin Oriental. The evening celebrated the legendary Rudolf Nureyev and commemorated the 20th Anniversary of the Rudolf Nureyev Dance Scholarship.

“We are thrilled to announce that this year’s Workshop Performance Benefit was a huge success,” said Margie Van Dercook, executive director of The School of American Ballet.  “The tremendous generosity of our attendees made our first live auction an exciting and fruitful endeavor.”

The performance was attended by nearly 700 guests, and was followed by a seated dinner at the Mandarin Oriental. The dinner was attended by nearly 500 patrons, including the School’s board members and alumni, as well as leaders from the New York corporate and social communities.  Notable attendees included: Chairmen Michele Barakett, Linda S. The Workshop Performance Benefit 2015 is The School of American Ballet’s most anticipated event of the year. The annual Workshop Performances are SAB’s only public performances and a rare opportunity to get a sneak preview of the ballet world’s up and coming young stars. A Benefit Dinner follows the Tuesday evening performance at Lincoln Center, and attracts attracts arts patrons, corporate VIPS and New York’s social elite.

This year’s event was headed by Chairmen Michele Barakett, Linda Daines, Hillary Lane Hochberg, Nell Kleinschmidt, and Max R. Shulman; and Young Patron Chairman Stephanie Linka.

This year’s benefit celebrated the legendary Rudolf Nureyev and commemorated the 20th Anniversary of the Rudolf Nureyev Dance Scholarship. At the peak of his career, Mr. Nureyev spent many hours in SAB’s classrooms, polishing his technique alongside SAB’s students in Stanley Williams’s acclaimed advanced men’s class. In 1994, the Rudolf Nureyev Dance Foundation generously presented the School with funding for an annual scholarship to support promising students in honor of Mr. Nureyev’s affinity for SAB and Mr. Williams’s teaching.

In 1964, Alexandra Danilova, George Balanchine’s former classmate at the Imperial Ballet and a leading ballerina of Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes and the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo joined SAB’s faculty. In 1965, Madame Danilova established SAB’s annual year-end Workshop Performances, giving the School’s advanced students an opportunity to participate in professionally staged, publicly performed productions of classic ballet works. Since its inception, the Workshop Performances have seen hundreds of SAB’s advanced students make their public debut as they prepare to leave SAB and go on to dance on the world’s top stages. The New York Times coined Workshop a “spot-them-before-they-are-stars showcase”. Scores of notable SAB alumni have performed at Workshop, including Merrill Ashley, Peter Boal, Maria Kowroski, Lourdes Lopez, Sara Mearns, Benjamin Millepied, Ethan Stiefel, and Wendy Whelan.
The post-performance dinner has evolved through the years, from an intimate gathering hosted by SAB co-founder Lincoln Kirstein at his Gramercy Park townhouse into a festive fundraiser held in the SAB studios. The continued success of the Workshop Performance Benefit led SAB to the use of another wonderful New York venue.The post-performance dinner took place in the magnificent ballroom at the Mandarin Oriental with the City’s iconic skyline as a backdrop.

The Washington Humane Society’s 28th annual black-tie gala will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Washington Hilton. This event is the only black-tie event where movers and shakers of Washington DC can bring their canine companions as their dates. The Bark Ball draws many of the area’s most illustrious residents and their four-legged friends, all in honor of the programs and services of the Washington Humane Society. La Compagnie Launches New NY-London Route

La Compagnie, the exclusively business-class airline, officially begins serving travelers flying between Newark International Airport (EWR) and London Luton Aiport (LTN) on Friday, April 24, 2015.

Offering attractive business-class fares across the Atlantic, this launch marks a monumental moment for the 9-month old airline, which will double the airline’s fleet and Trans-Atlantic service between New York and Europe.

Splashlight to Debut Images from India by Award Winning Marc Ecko Photographer

Enterprises executive Peter Ruprecht has partnered with Splashlight to debut
his “Monadic Nomad” collection. Splashlight will host a star-studded gala on
July 29th at its new headquarters in SoHo.

The Monadic Nomad-“A Journey of Chance” collection will be on display
through September at Splashlight in its brand new 60,000 square foot space
in Soho.

The exhibition features 40 color and black-and-white images that were taken
on Ruprecht's journey across India in late fall 2006. Notable collectors of
Peter's work include The Marley family in Miami, as well as Marc Ecko,
Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Marc Ecko Enterprises.

Ten percent of all proceeds from the sale of the work will benefit charity:
water, a non profit providing water to people in developing countries. The
collection will specifically fund freshwater wells and sanitation projects
in India. Recognized for its work around the globe, charity: water has
garnered national press coverage, celebrity endorsements and corporate
support.

“By consciously excluding historical references, Peter composes images that
transcend time. His photographs are less bound by material references to
particular eras,” said world-renowned travel photographer James Whitlow
Delano. “As a result, his compositions engage the viewer in direct
relationship with his human subjects. The forms, lines and colors become
organic elements enhancing the subjects. Even perspective and motion are
endowed with intrigue and mysticism. “

The “Monadic Nomad” collection will feature one-of-a-kind pieces printed on
handmade paper from Nepal, as well as environmentally safe canvas. The
eclectic combination of images and printing processes will convey the
complex mix of sights and sensations that Peter experienced while on his
journey and capture the spiritual, mystical essence of India's exotic

The invitation-only opening party will feature cuisine inspired by the
country. The press preview will take place on July 29 from 6-8 pm.

Dustin Hoffman, Josh Brolin and Kristin Scott Thomas to be Honored by Hollywood Fest

The 12th Annual Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Awards, co-chaired by Paul Haggis and presented by Starz, are pleased to announce honorees who will be recognized for their achievements at the festival's Hollywood Awards Gala Ceremony, which will take place on October 27, 2008, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

Academy Award-winning actor and Hollywood icon Dustin Hoffman will be honored with the “Hollywood Career Achievement Award,” actor Josh Brolin with the “Hollywood Actor of the Year Award,” and actress Kristin Scott Thomas with the “Hollywood Actress of the Year Award.”

About Dustin Hoffman:
A two-time Academy Award winner and seven-time nominee, Dustin Hoffman continues to add singular performances to a career rich with characters that have obliterated the line dividing the archetypes of “character actor” and “leading man.” Hoffman caught the world's attention for his role as Benjamin Braddock in Mike Nichol's Academy Award nominated film “The Graduate.” Since then, he has been nominated for six more Academy Awards for such diverse films as “Midnight Cowboy,” “Lenny,” “Tootsie,” and “Wag the Dog.” Hoffman won the Oscar® in 1979 for his role in “Kramer vs. Kramer” and again in 1988 for “Rain Man.”

"Roar for a Cure" Carnival & Family Fun Day

 The Max Cure Foundation — a non-profit organization whose mission is to fund pediatric cancer causes — announced today its first charity benefit, the first annual "Roar for a Cure" Carnival and family fun day, to take place on Saturday, August 22, from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. (rain date: Sunday, August 23) on the grounds of the East Hampton Indoor Tennis Club, 175 Daniels Hole Road, East Hampton, N.Y. The outdoor event will have fun-filled activities for adults and kids of all ages. Diagnosed with an extremely rare form of B-cell Lymphoma two years ago, Max continues to hold his cancer at bay with strength beyond his years.
