Art Tentation – Oktopus

Okt03

Art Tentation VIP opening night, September 3rd

Oktopus launched its first art and antique fair at the magical XVI century castle of Villefranche. The crowds were enchanted by the softly lit setting for the after hours opening night celebration. The art was displayed in tents within the castle’s walls, on cobbled roads, next to beautiful trees. From emerging artists, to masters including Picasso, and Antiques galore, there were wonders everywhere to marvel.

Champagne, light fare, and thousands of patrons to mingle with, created a dreamlike setting for this evening to remember. The acclaimed French artists Titouan Lamazou, with his fabulous portraiture, and Patrick Moya, with his surreal paintings, drew many admirers. More then just contemporary art featuring 120 artists, there were carpets, exotic artifacts and even vintage clothing in the show. The stands dotted the roads like little neighborhoods to visit as you strolled along the streets. Wouldn’t it be lovely if all evenings could be this charming?

Labor of Love Fundraiser

On Saturday, September 5, 2015, Housing Works and presenting sponsor The Points Guy hosted Labor of Love, a fundraiser to support Housing Works’ efforts to end the AIDS epidemic in New York State by 2020.

The season-ending benefit, held on Labor Day weekend, is one of the organization’s signature events. This year, Labor of Love was held in the home, designed by Halcyon Design, LLC, and gardens of a private East Hampton estate. The exclusive party featured cocktails by Double Cross Vodka, tasty hors d’oeuvres by Chef Ian McHugh, and a special performance by Mia Moretti and Margot of The Dolls.

Liberation Day 2015

mlib07

September 3rd, Liberation Day Celebration with Monaco USA

Swinging into the 40s with the Lib Day Darlings and Carl “Frankie” Henry, this celebration of the liberation of Monaco swept me off my feet. The crowds gathered on the breathtaking Stardeck at Stars ‘N Bars, overlooking the port of Monaco surrounded by its magnificent landscape in the distance. Dressed in costume of the era, the guests celebrated 1944 with drinks, dinner, and dancing.

Monaco USA organized the festivities. This association serves as a social and business network for Americans, Monegasques and other English-speaking members of the international community. The Association’s historical objectives include fostering a strong bond between Monaco and the United States, assisting Americans visiting or living in the principality, and supporting Monaco’s long term commitment to help the disadvantaged.

Flyp-Duo

FLYP-DUO Reversible USB Charge & Sync Cable

$24.99

I received a sample of the Flyp-Duo a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been using it nonstop ever since.

It’s really nice to be able to plug in either my iPad or my MemoPad without having to change the cable. Very convenient. Being able to plug the usb into the computer without worrying which way is up is another excellent feature, which is important because I use my computer a lot now a days for work and visiting sites like http://mycsgoboosting.com/guides/how-to-rank-up-in-csgo that improve with my ranking in games like CSGO.

When I first plugged in the iPad, it didn’t occur to me that the reason there are both male and female mini-usb connectors is that you have to mate them in order to use the lightning connector. To someone who is not an engineer that would probably be obvious; to me, with 30 years of experience matching the gazintas and the gazoutas, it was not. I thought there were three ways of connecting to the usb… [facepalm]. No, I didn’t read the directions…I’m a guy.

Once I got past that cockpit error, everything was great. I highly recommend this innovative cable. It works great for charging and also for syncing the data.
