The Gilroy Garlic Festival Association announces the details for its 2021 legacy events. There will be a variety of events (socially distanced, virtual, and more) that showcase the distinctive food from Gourmet Alley at a series of drive-thru events at Gilroy Presbyterian Church, a Farm-to-Table dinner at Fortino’s Winery, and a Golf Tournament at Gilroy Golf Course.

“We have all been confronted with so many changes due to COVID-19. There is a great community desire to see the Festival come back. Together, we can work to reimagine a Gilroy Garlic Festival that will promote and honor everything that makes Gilroy truly the Garlic Capital of the World,” said Tom Cline, current President of the Association.

“The Gilroy Garlic Festival seeks to be more than one signature event. We will continue to work to connect our community with various smaller events, educational activities, and giving opportunities throughout the year. Our historic mission to strengthen the bonds within our community is an ongoing commitment.”

This year’s Festival will include:
1. Enjoy Your Favorite Bites at a Reimagined Gourmet Alley

Drive-thru Gourmet Alley will be held on the weekends of July 23rd, 24th and 25th, and July 30th, 31st, and August 1st, at Gilroy Presbyterian Church, located at 6000 Miller Ave., Gilroy, CA 95020. Menu and drive-thru times to be announced shortly.

The Festival is working closely with the Santa Clara County Health Department to get approval for the Gourmet Alley Drive-Thru. Currently, the health department is still not reviewing and/or approving permits for temporary events. It is hoped that by July, the health department will allow the Festival to offer this activity to the public.

2. The Gilroy Garlic Festival will bring the freshness of fields, orchards, and artisanal foods directly to your table, as well as local wines.

Savor a Farm-to-Table dinner at Fortino’s Winery (located at 4525 Hecker Pass Highway) the evening of Saturday, July 24th. Stay tuned for chef and menu details.

The Gilroy Garlic Festival Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has distributed more than $12 million to the community through its annual, family-friendly celebration of the famous bulb since 1979. Local non-profits participating in the festival have raised millions more. Viva Tequila Mexican Experience Tour

Atlanta’s Viva Tequila Festival was honored at this year’s TASTE AWARDS (aka, the TASTY Awards). Often called the “Oscars of Food, Fashion and Lifestyle Media,” this edition of the Taste Awards highlighted Viva Tequila Mexico Experience under the category of OUTSTANDING CULINARY & TRAVEL EXPERIENCE. This year, as for many awards shows, the Taste Awards had a virtual broadcast that reached viewers across the globe, from Japan and South Africa to England, Poland and Italy, and from New Zealand to Mexico, Brazil and Argentina.

Hosted by wine, beer and spirits purveyor Juan Bonilla, dubbed “Mr. Tequila,” the Viva Tequila Festival Mexico Experience tour takes participants on an exclusive trip down the historic timeline of Mexico’s Tequila Trail, providing in-depth understanding of the different regions that cultivate Tequila, the history of this iconic Mexican spirit and its importance in local, national and international economies.

The Viva Tequila Festival Mexico Experience tour visits several cities, including Tlaquepaque, Tequila, Atotonilco and Guadalajara to provide a local perspective of the manufacturing of Tequila. Participants are able to mingle with locals and admire and shop for unique Mexican works of art, both folk and fine, all while sipping limited edition craft Tequilas from distilleries that embody traditional to modern styles of manufacturing. Highlights includes visits to the Fortaleza and Don Nacho craft distilleries as well as hacienda of José Cuervo, where participants bottle their own Reserva de la Familia, and enjoy a tasting in the property’s private cellar and then dinner at the Tienda de Raya, both opened exclusively for Viva Tequila Festival.

Tour participants are treated to stays in centuries-old haciendas that were once home to some of Mexico’s wealthiest people. They can enjoy a morning horseback ride at the historic, 17th century Hacienda Labor de Rivera or disconnect and relax with a spa treatment at Hacienda El Carmen Hotel & Spa.

Saturday, April 24 to Sunday, April 25
NTWRK App

Hot off the success of Unboxed festival, livestream shopping platform NTWRK announces a new partnership with streetwear brand and media platform The Hundreds on virtual food festival Family Style To Go. Co-hosted by Canadian chef/TV personality Matty Matheson and rap artist/songwriter E-40, the global digital event will take place on the NTWRK app on April 24th & 25th. Family Style To Go will celebrate the intersection of cuisine and streetwear while benefiting independent restaurants affected by COVID-19.

Each action-packed episode will feature livestream shopping and entertainment curated by The Hundreds, pairing streetwear heavy-hitters with the hottest chefs, restaurants and brands from the culinary universe. From cooking demonstrations to curated virtual tasting rooms, this first-ever online edition of Family Style will harness the power of the NTWRK platform to deliver one-of-a-kind live entertainment experiences directly to consumers. A lineup of 30+ celebrated brands, designers and personalities will come together to create exclusive products with restaurants from around the globe, offering food denizens a new opportunity to support their favorite eateries negatively impacted by the upheaval caused by the pandemic.

“I’ve been friends with Bobby and Ben from The Hundreds since they started the brand over 18 years ago,” says Aaron Levant, CEO of NTWRK. “Over the years, we’ve worked together on dozens of projects from collaborations, trade shows, conferences, and more. I couldn’t be more excited to continue our organic partnership and collaboration into this new digital format where we are able to merge culinary and design at the highest level.”

“We’re creating a new, big platform and experience where guests from all over the world can support restaurants,” says Miles Canares, director and co-founder of Family Style, “By buying some of the best restaurant merch and collaborative products that anyone’s ever seen, festival attendees will do their part in supporting a great cause.”

A portion of the proceeds from Family Style To Go’s programming filled with entertainment and live merchandise drops will be donated to Independent Hospitality Coalition, which provides food and resources to communities and businesses disproportionately affected by COVID-19.
“We’re happy to work with NTWRK to host a virtual event done in support of independent restaurants,” says Ben Shenassafar, CEO of The Hundreds, “Each exclusive product collaboration between restaurants, food brands and popular streetwear brands and designers will be available for purchase globally and aid our local communities.”

“Family Style was founded on the notion of bringing communities together for a specially curated experience,” says Bobby Kim, co-founder of The Hundreds. “The pandemic has obviously taken a huge toll on the restaurant industry we knew and loved. Through Family Style To Go, we hope to use our platform to help make a positive difference during this time.”

Family Style To Go is NTWRK’s fifth virtual festival, following the successes of TRANSFER, BEYOND THE STREETS, Unboxed and Off Court, which will take place on March 27th & 28th. The string of bespoke online shopping events caters to wide reaching segments of the millennial and Gen-Z consumer markets and place NTWRK at the forefront of a new era of e-commerce.

ABOUT INDEPENDENT HOSPITALITY COALITION
The Independent Hospitality Coalition (IHC) represents independent restaurants, bars, hotels and clubs throughout greater Los Angeles. Created in April 2020, the IHC provides a unified voice for the hospitality industry focusing on local and state government initiatives. Beginning as a “coalition of coalitions,” the IHC banded together groups from all over the greater Los Angeles area and used their intimate knowledge of the industry to become an advocate for small business hospitality policy. Restaurants, bars, hotels and clubs that join the coalition create a community that is stronger than each independent shop.
