“Lisa Dahl: Blessed By Grace” Premieres at Sedona Film Festival, 3/1

James Beard award-winning photographer Eric Wolfinger’s documentary short film, Lisa Dahl: Blessed By Grace, that’s set to premiere at the Sedona International Film Festival on Saturday, March 1, 2025. Lisa Dahl: Blessed By Grace shares the inspiring journey of chef and restaurateur Lisa Dahl, who turned personal tragedy into a thriving culinary career in Sedona, Arizona. After the devastating loss of her son Justin, who was murdered in the 1990s while helping someone in need, Lisa found healing through cooking. In 1995, she moved to Sedona and opened her first restaurant, Dahl & DiLuca, as a tribute to their shared love of cooking. Over the next nearly 30 years, she expanded her business to six acclaimed restaurants, each dedicated to preserving Justin’s memory.

Set against the majestic red rocks of Sedona, Lisa Dahl: Blessed By Grace offers a heartfelt look at Lisa’s resilience, spirituality, and passion for cooking, which has brought comfort and joy to so many while keeping her son’s memory alive.

National Catholic Prayer Breakfast 2025, 2-27-28

The National Catholic Prayer Breakfast (NCPB) was established in 2004 in response to Saint John Paul II’s call for a New Evangelization. Each year, over 1,500 people gather in our nation’s capital to pray for our country. An impressive list of speakers highlights a program that attracts lay and religious leaders, national figures, Catholic apostolates, and guests from a variety of sectors and backgrounds. The event is non-partisan, and anyone is welcome to attend. Several side-events are offered each year to further enhance the spirit of the gathering.

White House Easter Egg Roll

The White House Easter Egg Roll is a popular event hosted by the White House. The South Lawn of the White House is filled with exciting activities for the whole family, including storytime, games, live entertainment, and the traditional Easter Egg Roll. The 2024 White House Easter Egg Roll will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024.

Apply Through the Online Lottery to Attend
The lottery runs from Monday, February 26, 2024 at 12pm ET through Monday, March 4, 2024 at 12pm ET. Apply through Recreation.gov. Winners will be notified via email on Monday, March 11, 2024.

History of the Egg Roll
In the 1870s, Capitol Hill had become a popular spot for children to roll eggs – and themselves – down the hill on Easter Monday. As the event grew more popular, the toll on the grounds was noticeable. In 1876, Congress passed a law forbidding the Capitol grounds to be used as a children’s playground. In 1878, President Rutherford B. Hayes issued an order that if any children should come to the White House to roll their Easter eggs, they would be allowed to do so. The tradition has been carried on since, and has grown into the major event you can experience today. Sea of Ink: Savannah Maritime Tattoos will identify and explore tattooing along the Georgia coast.

Ships of the Sea will unveil Sea of Ink: Savannah Maritime Tattoos, an extraordinary exhibit showcasing the art and cultural significance of tattoos. Featuring more than a dozen Savannah-area tattoo artists and over 30 maritime tattoo collectors, Sea of Ink highlights tattoos as a meaningful art form and cultural movement.

With one-third of American adults having at least one tattoo, this visual language is rich for exploration. Sea of Ink presents the tattoo not just as body art, but as a powerful instrument for storytelling. Tattoos tell stories that often are deeply meaningful to the collector, and are a result of an artistic understanding between the tattoo creator and the collector.​​​

St. Patrick’s Regatta, 3/22

The Geechee Sailing Club is the proud host of the annual St. Patrick’s Regatta, now in our 46th year! The event is scheduled for March 22 and 23, 2025, beginning with a competitors’ Conference Call at 7pm on Friday, March 21. On Saturday we will have the fleet events, followed by a party in the Pole Barn at Molly McGuire’s on Wilmington Island. On Sunday there will be a Pursuit Race with staggered starts, the goal being that ALL boats finish at the same time.

26th Annual Tourism Awards & Scholarship Dinner, 2/20

We hope you join us for our 26th Annual Tourism Awards & Scholarship Dinner. The date for this event is Thursday, February 20, 2025. We are moving our annual awards gala back to its pre-COVID time slot in the first quarter of the year. Having our gala in its original time slot gives us the chance to celebrate our industry in the new Savannah Convention Center Governor’s Ballroom!

Nominations for awards are officially open! Please take time to reflect on who stood out on your team this year. Our awards and scholarship dinner serves as an opportunity to show your support and appreciation for the work of your team!

If you have a team member in mind you would like to nominate, please visit our Tourism Awards Nominations webpage. We are looking for nominees for our Service Star Awards and Service Leader Award.

The Service Star Awards recognize tourism and hospitality industry employees who consistently demonstrate exemplary job performance and go above and beyond the call of duty as they service guests. Nominees can include front desk employees and concierges, valets and bellhops, housekeepers, servers, and tour guides. Support staff, which includes ‘back-of-house’ positions such as dishwashers, laundry attendants, and maintenance can also be nominated.

The Service Leader Award recognizes a managerial level employee who exhibits phenomenal service toward guests, as well as exemplary leadership toward his or her colleagues.

Scholarship Application submissions for current and prospective college students who are studying or are planning to study and pursue careers in the tourism, culinary, and hospitality arts are also open. If you know a student, or students fitting this description, please encourage them to apply for the TLC scholarship.

The TLC scholarship has awarded more than $115,000 to deserving students who are pursuing a career in our thriving tourism community. Awards have ranged from $500 to $5000 per student.

The deadline for service nominations and scholarship applications is Friday, January 17, 2025. Applications and nominations received after the deadline will not be considered for review.
