Vaisakhi (Sikh New Year) in Chicago

Happy Vaisakhi
PCS “RANGLA PUNJAB 2025,” ON SATURDAY, APRIL 26TH., AT COPERNICUS CENTER CHICAGO
CHICAGO : The Punjabi Cultural Society of Chicago’s (PCS)  www.PCSChicago.org  flagship annual event “Rangla Punjab” to celebrate Vaisakhi festival, is on Saturday, April 26th, 6:00 p.m. at Copernicus Center, 5216 W. Lawrence Ave., Chicago, Illinois.
The Bhangra and Giddha Punjabi folk dance teams, excellent musical talent, comedy skits, and poetical recitation from Greater Chicago and bordering Midwestern states communities, will perform at the Rangla Punjab 2025.
The rehearsals are in full swing. Nearly 350 local participants are practicing to perform at the show.
For more than three decades PCS officials, volunteers, and items coordinators have worked very hard to train young boys and girls in Punjabi cultural performing arts and music at no cost to them.
Vaisakhi festival is the celebration of the end of harvest season in Punjab, and beginning of a new growth cycle. It is a symbol of renewal. This spring festival is normally held in mid April.
“Rangla Punjab” helps Punjabi youth come closer to Punjabi language, community and culture. They make friends, creating long lasting bonds and relationships. This indeed is a community building effort,” said Dr. Param Pal Singh the P.C.S. Chairman.
“Rangla Punjab” is the single largest annual Punjabi cultural event in the Chicago area that promotes the local community talent and showcases the Punjabi performing arts to a family audience since the mid-eighties. This is an opportunity for the Punjabi and other communities to come together to get an experience of being in mini Punjab while in Chicago,” said Navtej Singh Sohi the P.C.S. President.
